Group 7 Jose Espinoza & Karen Olivas Innovative designers

 Innovative designers

ISTE Student Standard(s) : 4

  1. Students know and use a deliberate design process for generating ideas, testing theories, creating innovative artifacts or solving authentic problems.

-Students are familiar with and apply the intentional design process while coming up with concepts, verifying hypotheses, making original objects, or resolving real-world issues.

  1. Students select and use digital tools to plan and manage a design process that considers design constraints and calculated risks.

-Students are able to account for calculated risks in their designs and will know how to plan and manage a design process that will give them satisfactory results.

  1. Students develop, test and refine prototypes as part of a cyclical design process.

-Prototypes are created, tested, and improved by students as part of an iterative design process.

  1. Students exhibit a tolerance for ambiguity, perseverance and the capacity to work with open-ended problems.

-students are able to work through an array of problems and know which technologies better fit their needs.

Free Technology that can be applied together with ISTE standards in a learning context is Padlet. This         website is perfect for class engagement, group work, and even Individual work.  It Allows users to post, links, comments, audio, images, separate concepts and much more.

4.a  Deliberate design - Through padlet students  find resources and post them such as links to an article or youtube video. If they have a good idea they can post it and have it there as a reference they can refer back to.

4.b Digital Tools- Padlet allows students to gather resources and refer to them as they go. They can leave notes indicating the risks of their ideas and link them to anything on their padlet.

4.c Prototypes - Students can keep track of everything they have tried. They can link whether their prototypes were successful or not and they can decide if they need to start over or simply make modifications because their data is visible to them.

4.d Perseverance- Through padlet and students posting their ideas, comments, questions, images and linking things together. They are able to work through real world problems and open ended problems. Having access to all of their ideas visually along with resources and images they used we can see them exhibit a tolerance for ambiguity.

    Activities Using Padlet:

- Students can answer questions as an exit ticket through padlet.

- Students can use padlet to collaborate on group work.

- Students can use Audio features on padlet to create projects like "podcasts" and interviews.
